Poetica Obscura: Petrochemicals, Servals, and Emo

--

These poems are from a series inspired by reading Atlas Obscura stories while listening to a music genre randomly selected from my list. I hope you enjoy these. If so, it means everything if you’d support my work (unlike Medium, ahem).

Why a South African Petrochemical Plant Is Like Catnip to Servals

emo

O elusive pollution!
O elegant pollution!
O coal in the grass land!
O live traps!

slippery silver, slinky constellation, synthetic fuel, rat snack, survival study

O nocturnal pollution!
O undulating pollution!
O fragile sedation!
O elusive silver lining!

extrapolated cooling towers, chain link, smattering of night, birthmarks of stars
