Poetica Obscura: The Iceman and Yanni

--

These poems are from a series inspired by reading Atlas Obscura stories while listening to a music genre randomly selected from my list. I hope you enjoy these. If so, it means everything if you’d support my work (unlike Medium, ahem).

When Everyone Wanted to Be the Iceman

New Age (Yanni)

When Everyone Wanted to Be the Iceman

(new age — Yanni’s Greatest Hits)

I sure do need the iceman.
I put a paper ticket in the window.

Cleaned out the icebox.
Got the whiskey ready.

I’m so lonely
and my pies might melt.

I sure do need the iceman
being lonely makes me tired

Later I’ll be too tired
to put water in the ice trays

the iceman was always strong
maybe I’ll get drunk and seduce no one

when I feel hot
nothing cools me down
